I'm preparing to create a DAG and add the 2 new Exchange 2010 servers.  I need some clarification from the perspective of the IP addresses on the replication network and with the FSW server.  Currently one of the NIC's from each server is configured with a normal IP address to allow connectivity on the network as usual.  I understand that the REPLICATION NIC should have a private address, not necessarily accessible for regular users.  But, what all needs to have access to this network?

If I use a 3rd (non Exchange) server as the FSW, does it need a second NIC with an IP address on this private network as well?  When I create the DAG and I use the shell to assign a static IP address, do I assign an address on this private replication network, or do I assign an address on the regular network?  thanks.

For DAG you need to setup a separate NIC, which should be non routable and need to disable few settings.
Client for Microsoft Networks Disabled
QoS Packet Scheduler Disabled
File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks Disabled
Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IP v6) Disabled
Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IP v4) Enabled
Link-Layer Topology Discovery Mapper I/O Driver Enabled
Link-Layer Topology Discovery Responder Enabled
No default gateway
Uncheck register DNS.

You don't need 2 NICs on FSW server.

so the FSW only needs a single IP address, which it would already have has an existing member server on the network.

What network does the DAG IP address get, mapi network or replication network?

Both Mapi NIC and Heart Beart NIC's are required for DAG. User connect using MAPI network to Exchange server and FSW server also connects using MAPI NIC. Heart Beat NIC or HB or Replications are only required for replicate the database from Active to Passive. Don't forget to apply below steps

Execute the pre-requisite server components install
Navigate the Exchange 2010 install point to the \scripts directory and execute the below command:
servermanagercmd –ip Exchange-MBX.xml -Restart

Set the NetTCPPortSharing Service to “Auto” and the Spooler Service to “Disabled”
sc config NetTcpPortSharing start= auto
sc config spooler start= disabled

Disable the firewall
netsh advfirewall set allprofiles state off

Validate required OS Hotfixes are installed
