I want to install Ubuntu 11.04 on a Acer 5336 laptop. When I startup the installation, the screen is very dark. You can barely see white areas, the mouse pointer is invisible. When I try 10.10, it is OK. Is there a way to fix this? I've tried an upgrade from 10.10 to 11.04, and I've tried to install 11.04 directly.

Thanks for the suggestion. It didn't help though, and I'm going back to 10.04 LTS for now.

Hi!

Edit two lines in Grub2 to fix your problem:

sudo gedit /etc/default/grub

1:
2:
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash acpi_backlight=vendor"
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="acpi_osi=Linux"

Then run:
sudo update-grub

Your solutions didn't work, so I installed 10.04.
