Hello. I have a question to ask you.

I am seeking to create a banner-like header that incorporates a website name's title that can even add dynamic animation in some manner if desired. I am not a program programmer or developer and therefore seeking:

1. an installed software program with a GUI interface for banner-like headers that uses ESTABLISHED TEMPLATES that can be modified...

...and/or...

2. an installed software program with a GUI interface where the user RIGHT FROM THE BEGINNING OF THE PROJECT ON ONE'S OWN creating/designing a banner-like header from the software program's given features and functions...

...and/or...

3. an integrated online program (server-side like program) where the user can interact with the GUI interface to do the banner-like template modifying...

...and/or...

4. an integrated online program where the user can interact with the GUI interface FROM THE BEGINNING OF THE PROJECT ON ONE'S OWN creating/designing a banner-like header from the integrated online program's given features and functions?

Follow?

I am looking to make sure that:

1. I also need to make sure that copyright or logo indication(s) from the software program/integrated online program developer or owner is NOT NOTED on the banner-like header in any way.

2. The final created banner-like header will be able to be saved INDEPENDENTLY/OUTSIDE the software program or integrated online program readily available to use in a popular and easily useable file format for web design graphics programs.

3. Especially, having MANY user operations/functions and features to make a truly PROFESSIONAL and detailed banner-like header.

The software program or integrated online program can be free (open source) or paid (For these "paid" developers, I bet you have to pay in order to get the copyright/logos markings removed or non present.). I am looking for your recommendations.

Yes, please provide me your personal RECOMMENDATIONS for links you may know of from personal experience, recommended knowledge from others, or from recommended reviews regarding my question/issue.  If you can, please provide your own suggestions, hints, and tips and/or a very well written, detailed and documented website links.

If looking/knowing of software programs to install; this is to be compatible with Windows 7 Professional 64-Bit.

DO NOT USE LMGTFY.com or similar-like web links in your reply. I consider its use very unprofessional for EE experts. If you do, you will not get acknowledged and receive no credit.

Please reply.

Thank you!

The professionals would probably use Photoshop.  The amateurs would probably use Photoshop Elements.  The script kiddies would probably use GIMP.  If you want the answer to be very well written, detailed and documented you might want to take a class at your local junior college or adult education center.  Drawing programs take some time to master, but for something as simple as what you describe a competent teacher can show you all you need to know in a matter of hours.

Hi RegulaOne,

We need more information than what you have provided.

1) "even add dynamic animation" In what format do you expect the output to be?

2) Define "Banner-like header" in plain english.  What do you expect the user to be able to do?

3) Define "popular and easily useable file format for web design graphics programs" specifically.

---------------------------------------

What you are after is certainly possible, either as a web service or a standalone program.  It's narrowing down the list of possibilities that will help you.

Most good graphics software (i.e. Photoshop, or MY PERSONAL RECOMMENDATION - GIMP - free) can accomplish this. For example, here is a list of tutorials for Photoshop.

This site also has the following Categories:
BASIC CODE TO CREATE A BANNER (5)
BUTTON AND LOGO DESIGNS (1)
FREE BANNER MAKER (1)
HOW TO CHANGE BANNER SIZE (1)
HOW TO CREATE A PHOTOSHOP BANNER (1)
HOW TO GET BANNER URL (1)
IMAGE HOSTING SITES (1)
PROFESSIONAL BANNER MAKER (1)
WEBSITE BUTTON MAKER (1)

Each catagory has multiple choices for what you want to do.

As I said, you can accomplish this with GIMP, but you have to invest the time to leard it.

@ Ray_Paseur & paulsauve:

Hello. Nice to meet you Ray_Paseur! Nice to see you again, paulsauve! Thank you both for your comments.

Okay, your responses are what I am looking for and I like the GIMP choice!!! I have been checking it out and it is fully featured and especially -- free!!!  A nice choice!!! paulsauve re-affirms it in his comment, that is what lead me to look into that one more deeply! Thank you and Merci!

Thank you both!

@ jason1178:

Hello. Nice to meet you! Thank you for your comment!

I want to give you a chance to truly provide an answer to my question/thread, since you first have questions from my initial post for this question/thread.

To answer your questions:

1. "even add dynamic animation" In what format do you expect the output to be?" Answer: This may be for example Flash animation, GIF animation or any file type the represents most common, typical, universal, and popular ones for website animations today.

 2. "Define "Banner-like header" in plain english.  What do you expect the user to be able to do?" Answer: To answer your first part, a 'banner-like header' is a banner that contains your content that would be placed at the top of your webpage. No, it is not an inclusive  term per se you will find on the web, it is just a way to try to explain it. A good classic analogy would be "The New York Times" at the top of a printed newspaper.  I apologies for any confusion. To answer to second part, honestly I am not exactly sure. I am thinking two things at this point -- either run one time only and rest -or- running in a repeating loop. Hmmm...

3. " Define "popular and easily useable file format for web design graphics programs" specifically." Answer: Any imaging file format that can be imported into web design graphics program without issue. Much like my answer to your first question. Some file formats include BMP, GIF, JPEG, PNG, TIFF, etc... The list is rather large. If incorporating any form animation in my banner-like header, then the available list shrinks dramatically and the list would be something like SWF, GIF, FLA, etc. I have heard many of the installed software programs (standalone programs) and online web program  (web services) have proprietary file formats that make it difficult to impossible to import into a web design graphics program., so using something 'common' makes things easier to pass between programs. if the installed software programs (standalone programs) and online web program  (web services)  allows more output or export choices, the better.

Please reply if you wish. I would like to hear from you.

Thank you!

For static banners, I agree with GIMP and Photoshop as your primary programs.

For animated stuff, you should look into Swish:

@ Ray_Paseur, jason1178, and paulsauve:

Hello again! First, I want to thank you for your comments. Not only do you all provide me my request/needed information, but each of you in your own way provide me really good, useful,  and practical additional information! THANK YOU!

I have consensus from all of you with Photoshop and presumably from some of you, Photoshop Elements -- the affordable choice that can do a lot for a simpler project of my scale. Thank you Ray_Passeur for your help on that one! I also have consensus on GIMP. I see it is an open source product, and of course, for free! GIMP looks pretty impressive with features and I am sure enough for what I need to do it for! I even Googled and found MANY websites for good instructions and tutorials on how to use it and it even includes self-made projects! WOW! jason1178's last comment adding one of the paid programs at www.swishzone.com may be something I will need to do at some point in the future if I go animated. paulsauve provides me a wonderful instructional link for Photoshop that I can use in some capacity, even if I go with Photoshop Elements. THANK YOU ALL!

So, it is between Photoshop (Elements) and GIMP as my choices for a simpler project banner-like header I need for a website I am creating at the moment. I will probably start with free GIMP first and if I find it hard to master in some capacity, then I will go with Photoshop Elements.

Okay, points and awards. I am going to give paulsauve the "Accepted Solution" since paulsauve provides me the a wonderful added Photoshop instructional link in paulsauve's comment, even though each expert's comment in this question/thread have THEIR OWN equal weight in their response. I just found paulsauve's added instructional help link an added benefit for those who are beginners an 'edge' over the other responses. Therefore, in terms of points and close 'equal weight', I will divide the 500 points by 3 expert answers/solutions comments, but obviously 3 does not divide equally into 500; therefore the "Accepted Solution" (paulsauve) will get 168 points, and the other two expert answers/solutions ("Assisted Solutions") will get 166 points equally.

Again, THANK YOU ALL!!!
