1)is it possible to define a user attribute in ldap say jcaptchmaxvalue=3

2)I have a jcaptcha field in JSF that i need to map to some user defined  attribute in LDAP  say jcaptcha max value so that if the user tries to enter the field value for more than 3 times the ldAP server throws an error messaga.is there any way to map the 2 fields from JSF to LDAP .

You can write a custom validator.

If you use Seam, you can bind the JSF field to a session- or conversation-scoped component that accesses LDAP.
