We have servers running Hyper-V with multiple vm guests in each. Some of the guests are running, others are not. In case of an emergency power shutting initiated by APC Powerchute Network Shutdown software all the guests withing Hyper-V host can be shut down gracefully before the host shuts itself.

Now when we come to the point of starting up the Hyper-V server again - what will happen with powering up of all the guests on it? Will only those that were running before shutting of Hyper-V host come up again or all of them will be running? Second option is not desirable, of course.

Got the answer. If guests are configured in save state mode then they will start if they were running or will keep being off if they were off before the host restarted.
