Server 2003 with IIS 6.0 i was able to make a webdav site, and open and save documents on the server without any problem. This is not the case anymore on windows server 2008 and IIS 7.0

Webdav authoring rule is downloaded and installed.

When i browse to http://mysite/webdav/myfile.doc

The file opens as Read-only, and is not possible to save back on server.

I have a specified user set up to use webdav.

My working setup with Windows 2003 and IIS 6.0
Webdav enabled
Virtual folder under webdav site is set to read and write and security for this folder is for anon. users (IUSR_SERVER)
This creates no problem and i can use it as normal. I can now save word documents on server.

My not working setup with Windows 2008 SP2 and IIS 7
Webdav installed
Virtual folder is setuped with "basic" authentication, i have created a user on server (local administrator) that i log in with when trying to open documents.

The document then opens in "Read-only" mode, and it is not possible to save on server.......

Problem solved. In autorisation methods i needed to enable integrated Windows, and Basic authentication for my virtual folder. (i only had Basic authent enabled)

Then the document wasnt read-only, and i could save on server.

Check autorisation if file is read only (its is most likely the problem)
