My OS is windows 7 and I use a Dell vostro 220.  I bought a Nikon Coolpix S6100 digital camera and took a short test video and downloaded into my pc.  I was able to play the file in Windows media player, and the ext was in mov.  But when I tried to do some trial editing in Pinnacle Studio  version 11.0 it could not recognize this file.  How do I convert this file and edit it in Pinnacle.  BTW this is the first time I am using Pinnacle although it has been sitting in my pc for a long time because I did not have a video cam recorder yet.
thank u.

Vlc media player has a converter in it. You would just open the vlc and then click on the convert tab and save as the extension type you need. Great tool and its a free download

Saw your tweet.

The other thing you may want to do is check to see if there is an upgrade to Pinnacle.  The video formats aren't really standing still even if the extensions don't change.  Your camera may be using a codec (coder/decoder) that is more modern than Pinnacle can handle.

So converting, as my esteemed colleague above notes, is one way to do it.  But I would try upgrading too.
